It took over 10 years to construct the building due to its interesting history. The support beams and girders are from the Sanyo Pavilion from the 1970 Expo in Osaka, Japan. The beams were donated as a centennial gift to Canada from Japan to symbolize the close ties between Asia and Canada. The architect for the project, Donald Matsuba, designed the building to reflect traditional Asian styles, including the Japanese farmhouse. |
